From characters to cities, factions to timelines - Dungeoness Maximus gives you a complete toolkit for generating, customizing, and organizing your tabletop RPG world. Describe what you want, and the AI handles the rest. Every creation lives inside your campaign, connected and ready for game night.
Everything you need to build your world
From Idea to World in Minutes
Most DMs spend hours prepping sessions — writing backstories, inventing towns, fleshing out political factions. Dungeoness Maximus compresses that process into a simple loop: describe, generate, customize, done.
1. Create a campaign
Your campaign is your world's save slot. Pick from a preset template or go fully custom. Don't stress the details — everything can be edited later.
2. Open the Creation Menu
Your campaign is your world's save slot. Pick from a preset template or go fully custom. Don't stress the details — everything can be edited later.
3. Describe and generate
Tell the AI what you're looking for. A paranoid dwarven blacksmith? A port city controlled by a thieves' guild? A holy war that ended a century ago? Describe it in plain language and hit Generate. If you don't love the result, regenerate until you do.
4. Customize and enhance
Add AI-generated images in your preferred art style. Create voice narration for dialogue or descriptions. Attach custom attributes for homebrew stats, secret lore, or anything else you need. Link creations together so your world stays internally consistent.
Seven Creation Types for Every Part of Your World
Every element of a TTRPG campaign fits into one of seven categories. Each one has its own generation flow, tailored fields, and art style options.
Characters
The backbone of any campaign. Generate heroes, villains, merchants, quest givers, gods, monsters, commoners — anyone your players might meet. Each character comes with a name, appearance, personality, backstory, motivations, relationships, and distinguishing traits.
Characters aren't just stat blocks. The AI builds narrative-ready NPCs with internal logic — a character's backstory influences their motivations, which shape their relationships. You get someone who feels like a real person in your world, not a random name with a job title.
Want a corrupt magistrate who secretly funds the resistance? A cheerful halfling innkeeper haunted by her past as a soldier? Describe the concept and the AI fills in the rest. Edit anything you want, keep what works, and move on.
Cities
A good city is more than a name on a map. Dungeoness Maximus generates cities with districts, governance, economy, culture, laws, notable residents, and local flavor. You get a place that feels lived-in — somewhere your players will want to explore, shop, fight, and scheme.
Whether you need a bustling trade hub, a fortified military outpost, a decaying port town, or a hidden elven sanctuary, the generator adapts to your description. Each city is detailed enough to run a full session in without any additional prep.
Regions
Regions define the geography and feel of your world. Vast continents, island chains, cursed wastelands, enchanted forests, underground kingdoms — each region gets its own climate, history, magical influences, and cultural identity.
Think of regions as the broadest brushstrokes of your world. They set the stage for everything else. Cities exist within regions. Factions operate across them. Events reshape them. Start here if you're building a world from scratch.
Factions
Factions create conflict, and conflict creates story. Generate organizations with leadership structures, goals, methods, rivals, allies, secrets, and public reputation. Criminal syndicates, scholarly orders, religious cults, merchant guilds, military powers, revolutionary movements — whatever drives the politics of your world.
The best campaigns have factions pulling in different directions while the players navigate the middle. This generator gives you the raw material for that kind of layered intrigue without hours of planning.
events
Events are the moments that define your world's history and drive your sessions forward. Generate wars, treaties, natural disasters, magical cataclysms, coronations, assassinations, festivals, plagues, discoveries — anything that happened, is happening, or will happen.
Each event is timeline-ready, so you can build a coherent chronology for your world. Use past events as lore your players can uncover. Use future events as ticking clocks that create urgency. Use present events as the session hook that gets everyone to the table.
points of interest
Every hex on the map should have something worth finding. Points of Interest are the adventure hooks scattered across your world — hidden shrines, haunted ruins, arcane laboratories, ancient battlefields, monster lairs, enchanted groves, forgotten dungeons.
These are the places your players stumble into (or seek out) that turn a travel montage into a memorable encounter. Generate them in bulk to fill out a region, or create one specific location for a planned session.
Notes
Free-form notes for everything that doesn't fit neatly into another category. Session recaps, plot thread tracking, player handouts, homebrew rules, NPC dialogue scripts, DM-only secrets — whatever you need to write down, write it here.
Notes live inside your campaign alongside all your other creations, so everything stays in one place. No more digging through Google Docs, Discord messages, and notebook pages to find that one detail you wrote down three sessions ago.
Smart Generation That Knows Your World
The AI doesn't just generate content in a vacuum. Three options give you control over how it thinks:
Insight Level
controls depth. Set it low for quick, punchy results — perfect for improv at the table. Set it high for rich, layered output — ideal for key NPCs or major locations. Higher insight means more thinking time, but the results are noticeably more detailed and internally consistent.
Reference Campaign
is the feature that makes everything click. Toggle it on and the AI reads your existing world lore before generating new content. If you've already established that the northern kingdom fell to a dragon invasion, your new NPCs from that region will know about it. Your world stays consistent without you having to repeat yourself in every prompt.
Inspiration
lets you link any creation to another as a starting point. Building a new character? Link them to an existing city and the AI weaves in local details. Creating an event? Link it to a faction and the AI connects the narrative threads. Tap through linked items from any creation to navigate your world like a wiki.
AI Art in 36+ Styles
Every creation type supports AI image generation with six unique art styles — that's 36+ visual options across the app. Describe what you want to see, pick a style, and the AI produces a custom illustration.
Styles range from gritty realism to vibrant watercolor, detailed portraits to stylized fantasy. Find the aesthetic that matches your world and stick with it for visual consistency, or mix styles for different regions and tones.
No art skills required. No browsing stock image sites. No commissioning artists for every NPC your players meet once. Just describe and generate.
Voice Narration With 16 AI Voices
This is where Dungeoness Maximus goes beyond any other worldbuilding tool. Generate audio narration for any creation using 16 unique AI voices — with more being added regularly.
Give your tavern keeper a gravelly baritone. Let the elven queen deliver her ultimatum in a commanding alto. Play a town crier's announcement at the table while your players listen. Use narrated descriptions during session prep to rehearse how you'll present a scene.
Generate dialogue, monologues, proclamations, descriptions, lore entries, or anything else you've written — including custom attributes. If it's text, it can be narrated.
Custom Attributes for Anything You Can Imagine
Standard fields not enough? Custom attributes let you add whatever you want to any creation. Homebrew stats, secret DM-only notes, character catchphrases, NPC relationship maps, tavern menus, wanted poster text — if you can type it, you can attach it.
Custom attributes aren't just text fields. They're fully integrated into the app. They can be narrated with AI voice. They show up when you reference a creation. They export when you copy to clipboard. They're as real as any built-in field.
This is the feature that makes Dungeoness Maximus work for any TTRPG system — not just D&D. Playing Pathfinder? Add Pathfinder-specific stats. Running a homebrew system? Create whatever fields your ruleset needs. The app adapts to you, not the other way around.
Gold — Simple, Transparent Costs
Every generation in Dungeoness Maximus is powered by Gold. No confusing credit tiers, no hidden limits, no "you've run out of free generations" surprises. You always know exactly what something costs before you generate it — the price is displayed right on the Generate button.
Text generation costs 1 Gold. Characters, cities, factions, regions, events, points of interest — all 1 Gold each.
Image generation costs 15 Gold per image. Pick your art style and generate.
Audio narration costs 4 Gold per 100 characters of text. Short dialogue is cheap. Long descriptions cost more. You see the exact cost before confirming.
New users start with Gold to explore, and earn more by completing onboarding quests. Subscriptions include ongoing Gold to keep building.
Share, Export, and Explore
Your creations don't have to stay locked in the app.
Social Feed lets you publish any creation for other DMs to see. Browse what the community is building, get inspired, and give likes to creations you admire. See a perfect NPC for your campaign? Copy it directly into your own world.
Export to Clipboard copies any creation's full text — including custom attributes — so you can paste it into a VTT, a shared document, a Discord channel, or wherever your group coordinates.
Sharing lets you send individual creations to friends, co-DMs, or your group chat. Show off what you've built or collaborate on a shared world.
